Meet The Team

Brian Steere Co-owner

Brian Steere moved back to Akron in 2012 to join his family business, STEERE Enterprises. In addition to running STEERE with his brother and father, he’s the co-owner of Springside Athletic Club.

Before joining the family business in 2012, Brian worked for seven years at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, serving in a variety of different financial roles. Since returning to STEERE, he’s served on the boards of Junior Achievement, Coleman Professional Services and the Akron Rotary Foundation. He’s a graduate of Torchbearers and Leadership Akron Class 33.

In his spare time, Brian enjoys playing tennis and working out at Springside. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Sean Robbins Personal Trainer

With over 20 years of experience, Coach Sean Robbins specializes in personal fitness for individuals of all ages, as well as a speed, strength and conditioning trainer for youth, high school, collegiate and professional athletes. He also teaches movement mechanics and fitness concepts to NFL, Big Ten, PAC-12 and MAC sports officials. His goal is to keep you healthy and enjoy the sport or activity you love.

Sean earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine & Recreation Administration, and holds minor degrees in coaching and religion. He’s a National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT) certified master trainer with specialist designations in personal training, sports nutrition, weight training and endurance training.

The author of Play Long. Stay Strong., as well as several magazine pieces, Sean has an accomplished athletic history. Following an outstanding collegiate athletic career, he became a highly-ranked professional track and field athlete and was an Olympic team alternate in 1996 and 2004.

Charles Dobbins Personal Trainer

Charles Dobbins is an NFPT Certified Personal Trainer, and has been with Springside for over 15 years. Our decade-plus Boot Camp Fitness instructor, he enjoys working with members of every level of fitness ability to achieve their goals, whether an individual starting a workout routine for the first time to competitive athletes looking to reach new heights in their sport.

Rocco Cona Tennis Director / Director of Operations

Rocco Cona has been Springside Athletic Club’s Tennis Director and Director of Operations since 1986. His prior role as Head Tennis Pro at Parkview Racquet Club and Director of Tennis at Fairlawn Country Club has established a solid foundation for Springside’s instructional and competitive tennis program.

Rocco’s passion for the sport and attention to detail has earned Springside a reputation for helping players maximize their potential. He’s built a team of accomplished tennis professionals to ensure players of all skill levels and ages excel.

In addition to his organizational experience, Rocco is a veteran coach and currently heads the Walsh Jesuit High School boys and girl tennis program, a position he’s held since 1993. His girls teams boast three team state championships, while his boys teams have 27 state tournament qualifiers.

His coaching accomplishments include adult championships, as well, with multiple mens and womens mixed teams winning Midwest titles in extremely competitive adult United States Tennis Association tournaments.

Alan Walker Tennis Professional

Alan Walker joined the Springside Athletic Club Tennis Staff in 1999. A USPTA and USTA Safe Play-certified professional, he works with players of all ages and ability levels and organizes our tennis and pickleball leagues and tournaments.

Brandon Boggs Head Golf Professional

A certified GOLFTEC golf professional and Titleist and Callaway master club fitter, Head Golf Professional Brandon Boggs is a veteran, private golf instructor with over 7,500 lessons and 500 club fittings to his name.

A golfer since childhood and perpetual student of the game, Brandon also excelled in several other sports. While playing baseball at Walsh University, he continued to improve his golf game and advance his career as a professional instructor, serving as an assistant golf professional at Weymouth, Fox Meadow and Medina country clubs.

After graduating with a degree in exercise science, Brandon continued to gain valuable experience while working for GOLFTEC in several locations throughout Northeast Ohio and Houston, Texas. From beginning players to elite athletes ready to make a professional leap, Brandon brings an all-ages, client-focused, friendly and proven approach to Springside.
